MAC Stylishly Yours Fluidline Swatches

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

MAC’s Stylishly Yours collection launched with two Fluidlines, which are gel eyeliners. (I apologize now for my crappy photo of Dark Diversion. Off day for photography, apparently. Someday I will put in more effort…)

MAC describes Fluidlines as:
Ultra-smooth, Fluidline’s gel formula provides the precision of a liquid liner with a silkier, softer finish. Goes on “foolproof” with a brush in an easy dip-and-stroke action. Long-wearing. Smudge-proof. Lines up in a rich array of colours and finishes. Brush sold separately.

MAC Dark Diversion Fluidline
Description: Blackened plum. (LE: Stylishly Yours)
darkdiversion

MAC Blacktrack Fluidline
Description: Solid flat black. (Permanent)

Swatching procedure: My skintone is a MAC NW20 (maybe a bit lighter due to it being winter). All photos taken under “natural light” bulbs, which mimic natural daylight.

fluidlines

Dark Diversion was an impulse buy, but I think I can get some use out of it… if I remember I own it. I hardly ever use my other two Fluidlines I own (Blacktrack and Sweet Sage). Blacktrack is really intense, but works AWESOME on the waterline, despite adhering to contacts and dryness that I’ve mentioned before.

MAC Cham Pale Collection Swatches

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

UPS man was kind and brought my MAC Pro package today! :) So time for some swatches of stuff I bought from the Cham Pale collection that released on December 26th!!

MAC Dangerous Cuvée Paint Pot
Description: Frosted cool grey. (LE: Cham Pale)

MAC I Get No Kick Eye Kohl
Description: Metallic nude (LE: Cham Pale)

MAC Retrospeck Eyeshadow
Description: Beached blonde (Lustre, Permanent)

MAC NC15/NW20 Chromagraphic Pencil
Description: A highly pigmented wood-clenched pencil with a firm lead and silky soft application. Use for outlining, defining and drawing. (PRO, Permanent)

Swatching procedure: My skintone is a MAC NW20 (maybe a bit lighter due to it being winter). Retrospeck is applied over Painterly paint pot, so results may be different if applied on bare skin. All photos taken under “natural light” bulbs, which mimic natural daylight.

I Get No Kick currently sold out on MAC’s website, and I can see why! I think it’ll be the perfect eye kohl for brightening and highlighting my eyes (besides my usual NC15/NW20 pencil that I use on my waterline). Tomorrow I might use Dangerous Cuvée for both work and then my NYE look. Very excited to play around with these new products! ‘Bout damn time I got some new MAC :D

Retrospeck I use as a highlight color often. For being a lustre finish, it doesn’t get too messy on my face.

Boxing Day haul :)

champale - Copy

Wow, this is the first time I’ve bought a considerable amount of products from MAC that weren’t everyday use items (foundation, concealer, etc), since this past spring!

Have to wait for the UPS man, which is the sad part, but I got:

Dangerous Cuvée Paint Potn – from Cham Pale collection
I Get No Kick Eye Kohl – from Cham Pale collection
Dark Diversion Fluidline – from Stylishly Yours collection
Bulk Wipes

Dangerous Cuvée was originally all I was after besides the Wipes, but I saw some looks with I Get No Kick and liked it. And Dark Diversion is just interesting… kind of a stupid purchase since I hardly use liners. Oh well :)

I’ll have my own set of product photos and swatches once I get my stuff.

march13haul

I haven’t bought any makeup since I picked up Hypnotizing eyeshadow in December… so oh boy did it feel good!

I had 6 empties to trade in for B2M, and a $25 gift card from Christmas, so that definitely helped out.

I got from MAC…

Eyeshadows
Saddle
Lucky Green
Patina
Shale
Quarry
Birds & Berries (from the Give Me Liberty of London collection)
Bought Grey (from the Give Me Liberty of London collection)

Paint Pot
Artifact (discontinued, but my store still had it!)

I also swung by Sephora and picked up a new tube of Make Up For Ever Lash Fibers. Finally! My existing tube was about a year old and getting really weird, so definitely time for new!

New MAC Eyeshadow Colors!

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Just got the email today from MAC Pro, there’s some new eyeshadow colors!

Winkle a mid-tone cornflower blue (satin)
Sunny Spot a light acid green yellow (matte)
Lucky Green a frosted mid-tone lime (veluxe pearl)
Vibrant Grape a bright magenta violet (satin)
Free To Be a bright true coral (matte)

Also in the email was the news that pro shades Red Brick, Goldenrod, and Atlantic Blue will be available at regular freestanding MAC stores!

Naturally, seeing as I have a purple fetish, Vibrant Grape is calling to me. Free To Be is also appealing. I think I’ll have to see swatches first, though, before rushing off to order anything. Neat to see some new colors that are not limited edition for once! :D

Swatch of the Day: MAC Embark Eyeshadow

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

I have yet to buy anything from MAC’s Warm & Cozy collection (my initial excitement over the products wore off as I started to see swatches), but I did already have Embark eyeshadow, which is a permanent product but part of the collection. So I figured I might as well go ahead and swatch it since it’s in a current collection :D

MAC Embark Eyeshadow
Description: Intense reddish brown (Matte, Permanent)
embark

Swatching procedure: My skin tone is roughly a MAC NW20 (maybe NW15 since any tan is fading). Photos are taken in under natural daylight from a window. Product is applied over MAC Painterly paint pot.

embarkswatch

It applied a bit “chunky” to my skin, I don’t know why. Felt like I really had to dig the brush in to get any on the brush. Kind of chalky… I don’t think I’ve used this eyeshadow too much, maybe once or twice to darken up a look.

I’m torn on whether I should get Modelette eyeshadow from Warm & Cozy… I already have so many browns and neutrals that I am not sure I really need another. So I think I’m saving my money for something else…

Swatch of the Day: MAC Hypnotizing Eyeshadow

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Gotta swatch my only purchase from the Love Lace collection! :D

MAC Hypnotizing Eyeshadow
Description:Frosted greyed mauve (Frost, LE: Love Lace)

Swatching procedure:
My skin tone is roughly a MAC NW20 (maybe NW15 since any tan is fading). Photos are taken in under natural daylight from a window. Product applied over MAC Painterly paint pot.

Back with goodies!

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

I had a great weekend, and even found some new goodies for myself! :D

First off, my Melon look! I do not have pictures of how I made it more “night,” but what I basically did was smoke it out with MAC Indian Ink eyeshadow in the outer V and crease, and darkened up the MAC Cranberry eyeshadow that was already there. Then I added MAC Goldmine eyeshadow under my lower lash line! Nothing too extreme, but it did change the look!

On my way to my friend’s I stopped by a CCO. They had a huge selection of stuff, but limited myself to Perfect Topping Mineralize Skinfinish. I sorted through what they had and chose one with lots of purple veining. I’m not sure why I am so into cheek products lately, but it’s fun! I used Perfect Topping to complete my night Melon look.

Then we stopped by a freestanding MAC store. To my surprise the Love Lace collection had released early (it was suppose to release December 26th), so I picked up Hypnotizing eyeshadow, which was the only thing I really had my eye on. Rounding that out, I picked up some Studio Moisture Cream moisturizer. I love my Studio Moisture Fix, but it’s been struggling against this dry climate. Hopefully the new stuff can help!

I don’t have pictures of Saturday’s look, but I did MAC Beautiful Iris eyeshadow over my lid, and then MAC Hypnotizing eyeshadow in the crease. I darkened it up with a touch of MAC Indian Ink eyeshadow in the outer V, and used MAC Shroom eyeshadow to highlight. Fairly simple.

Finally, when I came home I had a package waiting for me! I had swapped my Pearl Cream Colour Base for a Cakeshop Shadestick on makeupalley.com Cakeshop is a very unique color, I look forward to playing with it!

So that’s my weekend wrap up!

Whew!

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Sometimes it pays to check out the ‘net before heading out for a massive shopping trip! On my list for tomorrow is Grape and Deep Blue Green pigments. Well, lucky me, I stumbled across what’s going to be in MAC’s Mischief Makers holiday collection which releases on November 5th! And??? Well, one of the pigment sets includes those two pigments!

Why is this so great? Because I will never in my lifetime use up a full size pigment, which is 7.5 grams. In these special sets, the pigment comes in 2.5 gram vials AND you get 5 of them for $32.50 vs $19.50 for one full size pigment.

*Happy Dance*

Cool Capers
Kitschmas
Fuchsia
Grape
Deep Blue Green
Reflects Transparent Teal

That is the set I am after! Downside is that I cannot use my pro card on special sets, but the fact that I am getting 5 pigments for about the cost of 2 full size pigments works out, wouldn’t you say?

Anyways… the rest of the sets in Mischief Maker:

MischiefMakers

Sexy Shenanigans
Elle (lipglass)
Poetic License (lipglass)
Cruise Control (lipglass)
Ensign (lustreglass)
Morning Glory (lustreglass)

Frisky Business
Silly Girl (lipglass)
Totally It (lipglass)
Beaute (lipglass)
Pinkarat (lustreglass)
Wonderstruck (lustreglass)

Models Misbehaving
Pinkular (lipglass)
Magnetique (lipglass)
Gitane (lipglass)
Angel Wing (lustreglass)
Instant Gold (lustreglass)

Haute High Jinks (Pigments)
Jardin Aires
Rushmetal
Copperized
Museum Bronze
Reflects Gold

Sexpot (Pigments)
Naked
Sunnydaze
Chocolate Brown
Dark Soul
Reflects Antique Gold

I don’t think I’ll partake in any of the other sets, but I’m excited to get Cool Capers and those great pigments!

(Oh noes, do I feel myself becoming a pigment whore? I have a feeling it’ll only get worse once I start pressing them which means I’ll actually start using them a lot more…)

Sephora’s Birthday Gift

Monday, October 19th, 2009

So I’ve been sick the past week and not really up to wearing makeup or trying anything worth posting. Luckily it just turned out to be a cold, not the flu like I was worried *whew*

Got my Sephora gift on my birthday!

I must say, this was nicer than last year’s, which was a body wash I couldn’t use due to an ingredient allergy.

Gift box included 3 of Sephora Brand Super Shimmer Lip Gloss in Bronzed Beauty, Rosy Glow, and Precious Pink. They’re really nice mini tubes. My first impression is that it is a rather thick formula and has a smell that I can’t quite put my finger on. It kind of reminded me a “play makeup” that is sold to little girls for dress up. !? Because I was still sick I haven’t really used them or seen what they looked like worn.

I still like the gift, as it feels like I got so much more than a tiny bottle of lotion or body wash like previous years! And hey, who can’t find a reason to like free stuff, right? If anything, they will be nice to toss in my purse.

While at the mall on my birthday, I had the chance to check out MAC’s Magic, Mirth, and Mischief holiday collection which was released that day. I am not one for gifty type sets, so most of it does not interest me… HOWEVER… mineralize eyeshadows!!! <3 I have my eye on Blue Sorcery, Devil-May-Care, and It’s A Miracle. I’ve seen some swatches, and they’re gorgeous. I love the payoff of MES, I just think I don’t go for them because they don’t fit in normal palettes (I am such a palette freak).

Last piece of news… my MAC Pro application got accepted!!!!!! I called and checked on my birthday and received the good news. And my credit card has been charged, so now it’s just waiting time for the card to show up. I’ve been on a MAC buying freeze until I had my card, so I can’t wait! I am planning on a trip to MAC Pro in NYC as I need several pro products that I can’t get locally. I applied as a photographer, so my discount is 30% versus the 40% that makeup artists get.

MSFs, Blushes, Beauty Powders… Oh My!

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Yesterday there was a few hours of some good natural light coming in my window, so I decided to try out my new camera on some products.

I’ve never been a blush person, I’ll admit that! So I only have 4 “cheek” products, but that’s fine for me because I actually use them.

I really really really like the Mineralize Skinfinishes that I have! I love how they can be sheer or heavy, depending on how they’re applied. My two are from the BBR collection. I originally got Redhead back when the collection was first released last January. A few weeks ago I picked up Blonde at a CCO because I wanted something more pinkish.

Prism I picked up in June ‘07 at a counter in New Orleans (funny how I remember stuff like this, but not what I ate yesterday! Haha). It’s a pinkish-brown matte. Tahitian Sand is from the Hello Kitty collection and I picked it up at a CCO this past summer. I feel like I really have to jam the brush into the product to get any on it. Can I admit that I mostly got it because the compact is adorable?! ;)

Now for pictures!

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish – Blonde

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish – Redhead

MAC Powder Blush – Prism

MAC Beauty Powder – Tahitian Sand

Buzz about Holiday/Early 2010 collections are out and about on the forums. I am REALLY looking forward to “Warm and Cozy” which comes out on December 26th. The four eyeshadows sound gorgeous!

* Chamomile Creamy – pale yellow (Satin) (Limited Edition)
* Modelette – Mid-tone warm camel (Satin) (Limited Edition) (Repromote)
* Milled Cider – Dark warm brown (Satin) (Limited Edition)
* Embark – Deep rich brown-black (Matte) (Permanent)

There’s also two MSFs coming out

* Comfort – Golden bronze (Limited Edition)
* By Candlelight – Golden pink (Limited Edition)

I’ll have to wait to see pictures in person before I fully decide on the MSFs, but as for the shadows I’m hopeful that I will get all four!

A look from a few days ago…

Friday, September 4th, 2009

This is what I did for September 2nd. Decided to use my new goodies from the “Love that Look” and “Makeup Art Cosmetics” collections that I have gotten recently.

I think I’ve concluded that I suck at applying eyeliner *sigh*

Face

  • MAC Mineralize loose foundation in Medium (109 brush)
  • MAC Redhead Mineralized Skin Finish

Eyes

  • MAC Painterly paint pot as base
  • MAC Rated R e/s inner half of lid
  • MAC One Off e/s outer and crease
  • MAC Photo Realism e/s as highlight
  • MAC Full of Fuchsia Technakohl eyeliner on upper lashes
  • MAC Brow Finisher in Blonde
  • Make Up For Ever Lash Fibers
  • Make Up For Ever Smokey Lash mascara

Lips

  • MAC Nice to be Nice lipglass

I’m loving the Love That Look collection, as I tend to love the starflash shadows. I’m lucky I ordered Rated R when I did, as the next day it went out of stock online (and it’s out at my local store). Full of Fuchsia is out of stock online as well, and I got one of the last in the area at a store.

Hello Kitty Take Two!

Friday, February 13th, 2009

I couldn’t stay away from the MAC Store!! I decided that I really wanted the Milk pigment, as I don’t have any shadows near that color, and decided I needed a few others things. Best thing of all is that I got another free tote bag! :) Now I can actually use one, and have one to keep nice. I wish I could get like 10 of them honestly.

Take Two Haul:

  • Milk pigment (my first pigment actually!!)
  • Nice Kitty lipglass
  • Brow Finisher in Blonde]
  • Wipes (the 100 pack)

Milk pigment

Nice Kitty lipglass

I wonder if this is going to start a pigment addiction… tee hee hee ;)

Hello Miss Kitty!

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Yay, Hello Kitty MAC collection!

I ended up getting more than I expected… I figured I would. Once I saw stuff in person I wanted more and more! I probably would’ve gotten all 6 lipglasses if I was in the store any longer!!

I had my full face done, quite nice as it’s the first time I have had that done at MAC. I am not sure of all the products, but I will try my best to remember them..

Face

  • A moisturizer… I didn’t get to see which one it was, though
  • Studio Sculpt foundation in NW25 *I think* once again, I couldn’t really see, but she used two shades
  • Mineralize Skinfinish Natural
  • Studio Sculpt concealer
  • Beauty Powder Blush in Tippy

Eyes

  • Painterly paint pot (my ol’ pal!)
  • Milk pigment
  • Too Dolly palette
  • A plum shade of eyeliner pencil
  • Brow Finisher (I really wish I remember to buy this, I like it)

Lips

  • Pink Fish lip conditioner

Whew, I think that’s all! It’s hard to remember when I am actually not applying it myself. I definitely believe this is the most make up I have ever had on my face, though! :)

Now… for my HAUL!!!

  • Too Dolly e/s palette
  • Lucky Tom e/s palette
  • Pink Fish Lip Conditioner
  • Nice to be Nice lipglass
  • Sweet Strawberry lipglass
  • She Loves Candy lipglass
  • Fast Friends lipglass

And I got a free tote bag as well!

Oh, and Gesso for B2M :)

I honestly like the packaging, even the inside of the boxes has the HK print.

Pink Fish lip conditioner

Outside of the eyeshadow palette. I definitely won’t be depotting these

Lucky Tom eyeshadow palette (Creme Royal, Paradisco, Stylin’, Lucky Tom)

Too Dolly eyeshadow palette (Yogurt, Romping, Too Dolly, Stately Black)

Lipglasses: Sweet Strawberry, Nice to be Nice, Fast Friends, She Loves Candy.

And because I don’t want it to feel left out…

Gesso!

I think this will my last big MAC haul for a long time, heh. :)

Just about time!

Hello Kitty!!!

Which I am afraid to admit.. I don’t feel that excited for anymore. Maybe it’s makeup overload? Maybe it’s because there’s nothing I direly need from the collection? I am not sure…

I have my appointment at MAC at 6pm tomorrow night. It’s a “we put the make up on you” type of release I guess. My friend and I are going, and I gotta admit I’m more excited to wear my new Loli dress than to get makeup.

I don’t know what’s wrong :(

I have 6 empties to turn in, so I am planning on getting Gesso, which is NOT a Hello Kitty item. I lack a nice, pure white in my collection, so I’ve been eying Gesso for awhile, waiting for when I had enough B2Ms to get it. I am also eying Sketch for some reason, I’ll have to see it in person.

Along with that… for sure Hello Kitty items are:

Too Dolly e/s palette
Fast Friends lipglass
Sweet Strawberry lipglass

I am eying “She Loves Candy” lipglass as well… but am thinking I don’t need tons more lipglosses as I barely use the ones I already have. It will mostly be a decision that I will make on the spot.

Lucky Tom palette is kind of calling out to me, another item I will have to figure out once I am actually there.

That’s all that I can think of wanting right now. I am trying to stay fairly reasonable, and preferably under $100 for this. As much as the glitterliners look cool, I know I’ll never use them (because I never use my Urban Decay one), so I am trying to stay away from unecessary purchases.

I guess tomorrow night I’ll have some news! And maybe swatches, too! Woo woo!

(As for today’s look, I have no pictures. It was my first darkroom day in my photography class, and I didn’t feel like getting too dressed up. Just simply Painterly, with thick coating of Honey Lust over it, and MUFE mascara. Did I ever mention how much I hate Honey Lust?)

Welcome!!

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

Welcome to my MAC makeup blog! I’ll be updating this with my daily looks, new purchases, etc!

I have two looks from a few days ago that I am going to post, and then I’ll post a new entry for today’s look!

Jan. 08, 2009 Look “Going to the pet food store!”

Products (all are MAC unless noted):

Eyes

  • Painterly paint pot as base (242 brush dupe from Sephora)
  • Moonflower e/s all over lid (139 brush)
  • Deep Truth e/s in outer V/crease, and a bit to line upper and lower lids (139 brush)
  • Ricepaper e/s in crease up to brow (272 brush)
  • Crystal Avalanche e/s lightly in crease, and a bit under brow (272 brush)
  • Make Up For Ever Smokey Lash mascara

Lips

  • Elaborate lipglass

No foundation/concealer/powder/etc.

This look turned out better than I hoped, and my makeup artist at my local freestanding MAC store even complimented me! This made me so happy, as I am always scared to wear “serious” makeup to MAC, in fear the MUAs will make fun of me. Definitely a confidence booster! I did notice my right eye wasn’t as blended as the left, probably due to the crappy lighting in my bathroom (I switched to “natural” lightbulbs last night and LOVE it).

Jan. 09, 2009 Look “BBR Playtime”

Products (all MAC unless noted):

Face

  • Mineralized loose foundation in medium (109 brush)
  • Redhead Mineralized Skinfinish (168 brush)

Eyes

  • Painterly paint pot as base (242 brush dupe from Sephora)
  • Henna e/s all over lid, up a little past crease (139 brush)
  • 100 Strokes e/s in outer V, and along upper lash line (139 brush, and small slanted Sephora brush for lining)
  • Ricepaper e/s to blend and up to brow (272 brush)
  • Brow Set in clear
  • Make Up For Ever Smokey Lash mascara

Lips

  • Carmex :)

Time to play with my new products I got from the “Brunette, Blonde, and Redhead” collection, along with my new powder foundation that I got at MAC 01/08/09. I figured out Ricepaper mixed with 100 Strokes made some sort of gunmetal silver color. I honestly must admit I wasn’t too happy with 100 Strokes, but it just might be the other colors I was using it with. I’m sure I’ll make it work.
