I went to a holiday bazaar a few weeks ago, and entered a drawing at the Mary Kay booth… hell, who doesn’t like to win things, right? Well, for the first time in my life, I won something!! I won a $25 gift certificate. This morning I met up with the consultant, who demonstrated Mary Kay’s new sets of eyeshadows that are meant to compliment a person’s particular eye color.
Now, I’m not the biggest fan of makeup being applied to myself… I’ve only had mine done at MAC about 3 times, and only one of those times were my eyes. So of course I was nervous, being the makeup freak that I am.
The look was very neutral, but simple enough for day… because let’s face it… purple smokey eyes, regardless of how much I swear by them, are not appropriate for most “professional” environments.
I snapped a few pics when I got home. I can’t remember all the product names, so there will be a few missing details…
Face
Mary Kay Mineral Powder Foundation in Ivory 2
Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color… no idea on shade
Mary Kay Mineral Highlighting Power in Pink Porcelain (I think(
Eyes
Mary Kay Eyesicles Eye Color in Vanilla
Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color in… Sweet Plum… and I don’t remember the other 2 shades… it was the green eye set
*I used my own Make Up For Ever mascara when I got home*
Lips
Mary Kay NouriShine Lip Gloss in Cream & Sugar
Mary Kay NouriShine Lip Gloss in Beach Bronze

Ooo, the dreaded full face! Usually I use concealer and some sort of brow product… so excuse the dark eye circles and messy brows!
I have a feeling the Eyesicles is going to start creasing on me… I actually own this product and it always creased as a base or by itself.
I’m liking the lip glosses, they make my lips feel soft. The foundation also gave good coverage, though seems a bit pale… I think this is only because my MAC foundation is now too dark for me since I haven’t gotten any sun in the past few months, so I’m not use to the correct foundation shade being used, oops.
Mary Kay is actually how I got into makeup… I use to only use black eyeliner and mascara until an old friend became a MK consultant. Then I got into eyeshadows and it snowballed from there. I actually have one of the “old school” MK palettes filled with shadows. I stopped using it soon after I got into MAC products. I keep meaning to pull it out and do some looks just for fun one of these days.
So now I gotta figure out what to spend my $25 on… There’s a travel roll up bag that is pretty nifty, but would I ever use it? Same goes for any makeup, as I’m already on MAC overload… I’m going to see if my mom sees anything she likes. It’s hard!
On other news… yesterday I did a blue look, and when I was going to get my camera, clumsy me knocked 3 of my 15-pan palettes off of the counter, and they hit the tile floor. My “highlights” one made it out fine, only some of the pans fell out because the magnets aren’t strong. In my “blue” palette Parrot shattered
I ended up re-pressing it, and it turned out well for being my first time (I never did get a chance to do my pigments, and now I can’t find the empty pans I bought). My “silvers/black” palette got beat all to hell… half of Smoke & Diamonds just disintegrated into dust so I couldn’t scoop any of it back up for re-pressing. Half of Beauty Marked chipped off, so I did a quick “rubbing alcohol and finger” re-press, which I also had to do to Nehru. Not pretty looking at all… I use to hate looking at people’s palette pictures and all the shadows looking like battle ravaged warriors, but now I understand how it happens… gave me a heart attack though, and made a mess on the floor. Now I remember why I put the palettes in the sink!
Long story short, I never got pictures of the blue look, so I’ll have to repeat it. *sigh*
Well, that was my adventure for today… I’ll be searching for what to spend my $25 on!
