Bringing out the color…

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Sundays are my day off, so I took the chance to do a look I wouldn’t otherwise do, especially for. Decided to give a blue look another chance. I’m STILL finding blues awkward :(

(Nothing on my face today… just eyes)

Eyes

  • MAC Painterly Paint Pot
  • MAC Fade Eyeshadow
  • MAC Aquadisiac Eyeshadow
  • MAC Deep Truth Eyeshadow
  • MAC Shroom Eyeshadow
  • MAC Cloudbound Eyeshadow
  • MAC Auto-de-blu Technakohl Liner
  • Make Up For Ever Lash Fibers
  • Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Mascara

    Different I suppose :)

The last few days of work last week I did this look:

    0318closeup

    Eyes

  • MAC Painterly Paint Pot
  • MAC Woodwinked Eyeshadow
  • MAC Tempting Eyeshadow
  • MAC Soft Brown Eyeshadow
  • MAC Retrospeck Eyeshadow
  • MAC Vanilla Eyeshadow
  • I love it! I think it might become my “routine” look for work, maybe with substitutes here and there for some of the colors. It’s quick and easy, and all of those shades easily blend together, so I don’t have to spend a lot of time blending out difficult finishes.

Swatch of the Day: MAC Give Me Liberty of London Eyeshadows

    St. Patty’s Day Look

    Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

I had to work, so I kept it on the tamer side. Trust me, I would’ve preferred to break out my green pigments and go to town!

    FINALLY! Haulin’!

    Monday, March 15th, 2010

    march13haul

I haven’t bought any makeup since I picked up Hypnotizing eyeshadow in December… so oh boy did it feel good!

I had 6 empties to trade in for B2M, and a $25 gift card from Christmas, so that definitely helped out.

    I got from MAC…

    Eyeshadows
    Saddle
    Lucky Green
    Patina
    Shale
    Quarry
Birds & Berries (from the Give Me Liberty of London collection)
Bought Grey (from the Give Me Liberty of London collection)

    Paint Pot
Artifact (discontinued, but my store still had it!)

I also swung by Sephora and picked up a new tube of Make Up For Ever Lash Fibers. Finally! My existing tube was about a year old and getting really weird, so definitely time for new!

Later that night (I’m writing this entry on March 20th) I redid my makeup, but didn’t get any pictures. I used Lucky Green all over my lid, and then Bottle Green in the outer V and crease. Really dark and dramatic green look :)

    Playin’ with color finally!

    Friday, March 12th, 2010

Figured out I don’t have to do neutrals every day, I can throw some color in there here and there :)

    Bringin’ out the Greens

    Monday, March 8th, 2010

My life is going to be a whole lot more neutral looks, so today I did something bright. And I realized that all the main colors are MAC Pro shades, weird!

Swatch of the Day: MAC Paint Pots

    Sunday, March 7th, 2010

Swatched my MAC Paint Pots today!

    What is a Paint Pot?

A highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish. Long-wearing, colourfast. Creates seamless coverage without weight or caking. Blends smoothly over the lids. Cream-based, can be mixed with M·A·C shadows and liners.

    MAC Painterly Paint Pot
    Description: Nude beige (Cream)
    painterly

    MAC Fresco Rose Paint Pot
Description: Mid-tone pink with matching pearlized pigments (Frost, Discontinued)

    MAC Blackground Paint Pot
    Description: Black-grey with multi-colour (Pearl)
    blackground

    MAC Greenstroke Paint Pot

    MAC Delft Paint Pot
Description: Deep teal with gold pearlized pigments (Frost, Discontinued)

Swatching Procedure: My skin tone is roughly MAC NW20. Photos taken under “natural light bulbs” which mimic natural daylight.

Cleanse Off Oil Gone Wrong… Or Not?

    Sunday, March 7th, 2010

    cleanseoff

I purchased my MAC Cleanse Off Oil from a CCO about 2 years ago (it’s in the discontinued old packaging, too). I used it off and on until I started using MAC Wipes, then it has been pretty much just sitting around. I would use it to remove makeup when I did swatches on my arms, and other small things like that.

Today I needed to remove my paint pot swatches, so I picked up my bottle of Cleanse Off Oil, and O M G!!!

It was filled with white particulate that would not go away even if I shook it. Pretty gross, eh? I had NO idea what it is, or if it’s a normal thing that happens with this product after a few years. (I have makeup remover from Mary Kay that is 5 years old, and this hasn’t happened to it so, I’m not sure it’s normal, unless MAC uses something weird.)

    cleanseoff2

I figured it wasn’t worth it to keep it around (I think I’ll pick up some cheap remover at Walmart for washing off my swatches and other tasks not worthy of the all holy MAC Wipes). So down the drain it went… the oil portion poured out normally, but all the white stuff created this semi thick milky substance that was a pain in the butt to wash out of the bottle. Even with soap it seemed to resist?!

So on the MAC site I went… I guess this product is designed to turn into a lotion when it contacts water?

An industry-strength oil-based makeup remover that’s gentle on the skin. Botanically formulated with oils of olive fruit, evening primrose and jojoba seed and absolutely 100 percent mineral-oil free. Massages onto the skin to loosen all makeup, including waterproof mascara. Emulsifies into a lotion-type liquid with water: rinses off easily, no tissues required – and no residue! Protects with vitamin E. Skin softening and conditioning. Good for all skin types.

Weird… so I guess that explains the white lotiony type stuff floating in it. But why was it like that IN THE BOTTLE? Maybe water had gotten inside of the bottle? Either way, it was weird, freaked me out, and in the sink it had to go. And granted, it was two years old… not that I’m one for following product expiration guidelines (mascara… year old? sure!) but it’s my excuse for my Cleanse Off Oil mishap :P I mean, I guess it was “normal” for that white stuff to be there reading the description, but why was it forming in the bottle, ya know? And the product color had changed from a yellowy color to clear… yes, that justifies it! Hahah

One more empty in my B2M pile. And first MAC product on my list to be tossed out!

My take on a “professional, interview” look

    Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Trust me, I can be at a lost on how to do looks like this! I’m so use to bright colors and a dark, smoky look so I actually have to carefully think about my makeup when doing a professional look.

Overall matte, kind of dull look :D

I used my liquid foundation as my skin has just been horrible lately, so I figured better coverage would be good. I have NO idea why I am breaking out like I am. I scarcely use my moisturizer, and I’ve been using my cleanser since November. So I am not sure what is happening. I don’t know if I’m breaking out because it’s so dry being winter? Ugh…

I also need new MUFE Lash Fibers like yesterday. Living so far away from a Sephora or MAC store sucks!!
