I have yet to buy anything from MAC’s Warm & Cozy collection (my initial excitement over the products wore off as I started to see swatches), but I did already have Embark eyeshadow, which is a permanent product but part of the collection. So I figured I might as well go ahead and swatch it since it’s in a current collection
MAC Embark Eyeshadow
Description: Intense reddish brown (Matte, Permanent)

Swatching procedure: My skin tone is roughly a MAC NW20 (maybe NW15 since any tan is fading). Photos are taken in under natural daylight from a window. Product is applied over MAC Painterly paint pot.

It applied a bit “chunky” to my skin, I don’t know why. Felt like I really had to dig the brush in to get any on the brush. Kind of chalky… I don’t think I’ve used this eyeshadow too much, maybe once or twice to darken up a look.
I’m torn on whether I should get Modelette eyeshadow from Warm & Cozy… I already have so many browns and neutrals that I am not sure I really need another. So I think I’m saving my money for something else…

Wow, I feel like I’ve owned Pure Ore for ages! It’s been over 2 years since it was released, and I’ve used it maybe 5 times tops, usually as a liner
I was browsing specktra.net’s “Shop Your Stash” thread for ideas, and came across a look using it so I had to give it a try!

I’m loving it!! It’s not too harsh of a look in real life (so my mom says, she often says my makeup is too dark
). Nice and sparkly and shiny. I’ve never used Pure Ore like this, so I’m glad I tried something new! Makes me wish I had the silver product from Metal-X, or hell, all of the colors!

Cakekshop applied all over lid and crease as a base. Warm Chill applied over lid. Satin Taupe applied in crease. Humid used to darken outer V. Vex applied as a highlight under brows. Zero applied to lower waterline.

This was my first time ever using a Shadestick. Cakeshop is pretty… it’s a sparkly beige with some green in it (at least I see some green). Gave an extra sparkle to the shadows I applied over it.

I had a great weekend, and even found some new goodies for myself!
First off, my Melon look! I do not have pictures of how I made it more “night,” but what I basically did was smoke it out with MAC Indian Ink eyeshadow in the outer V and crease, and darkened up the MAC Cranberry eyeshadow that was already there. Then I added MAC Goldmine eyeshadow under my lower lash line! Nothing too extreme, but it did change the look!
On my way to my friend’s I stopped by a CCO. They had a huge selection of stuff, but limited myself to Perfect Topping Mineralize Skinfinish. I sorted through what they had and chose one with lots of purple veining. I’m not sure why I am so into cheek products lately, but it’s fun! I used Perfect Topping to complete my night Melon look.
Then we stopped by a freestanding MAC store. To my surprise the Love Lace collection had released early (it was suppose to release December 26th), so I picked up Hypnotizing eyeshadow, which was the only thing I really had my eye on. Rounding that out, I picked up some Studio Moisture Cream moisturizer. I love my Studio Moisture Fix, but it’s been struggling against this dry climate. Hopefully the new stuff can help!
I don’t have pictures of Saturday’s look, but I did MAC Beautiful Iris eyeshadow over my lid, and then MAC Hypnotizing eyeshadow in the crease. I darkened it up with a touch of MAC Indian Ink eyeshadow in the outer V, and used MAC Shroom eyeshadow to highlight. Fairly simple.
Finally, when I came home I had a package waiting for me! I had swapped my Pearl Cream Colour Base for a Cakeshop Shadestick on makeupalley.com Cakeshop is a very unique color, I look forward to playing with it!
So that’s my weekend wrap up!

I’ve had Melon pigment since October sometime… just finally got around to using it! It applied as a very bright yellow gold on my lids, which kind of disappointed me since it’s a orange-y pink in the container. I won’t give up on it, though, still a nice product.
I might have two version to this look, day and night. This is the day version. I am going out with friends tonight so I’m going to freshen up my makeup and maybe make it a bit darker. So the night version will be posted in a few days when I’m back!

MAC Nanogold eyeshadow
Urban Decay 24/7 Gilde-On Eye Pencil in Zero

Lips

Painterly applied as a base. Melon foiled all lid with 239 brush and a few squirts of Fix+. Cranberry applied in crease and outer V with 217 brush. Carbon used to darken outer V, applied with 217 brush. Vanilla used to buff out upper crease, with 275 brush. Nanogold applied as highlight with 275 brush. Zero applied on lower waterline.

So that’s the “day version.” Hopefully I can create some sort of night version out of it
Anyways, last post for a few days as I’ll be away from my computer!

Time to go to the defense of Trax… what the heck is everyone’s problem with this shadow? It applies fine… sure, not as nice as a veluxe pearl finish one would, but it’s NOT that terrible. And it’s a pretty color? Yeah, I just don’t know. I have my faith in this shadow!

After much thought last night, I picked out what to use my Mary Kay gift certificate on!
I’ve been wanting a matte-ish pink blush for awhile now, and have been going back and forth on some MAC suggestions, but then I ran across Cantaloupe from MAC and I HAVE TO HAVE IT. But it’s not pink! That’s when I realized I could pick up one of the Mary Kay mineral ones, and have my cake and eat it too!
I decided on Mary Kay Pink Petals mineral cheek color, and Beach Bronze lipgloss.

Oh, so about yesterday’s look! IT LASTED ALL DAY! No creasing! Maybe I was just using too much of the Eyesicles product when I tried before. I was quite surprised. Not that I’m going to be giving up my paint pots anytime soon… just an observation and correction on something I said in yesterday’s post!
So those are my new goodies! Now I have a pink blush that isn’t frosty like my Blonde MSF, and a new lip gloss!

Monday, December 14th, 2009
I went to a holiday bazaar a few weeks ago, and entered a drawing at the Mary Kay booth… hell, who doesn’t like to win things, right? Well, for the first time in my life, I won something!! I won a $25 gift certificate. This morning I met up with the consultant, who demonstrated Mary Kay’s new sets of eyeshadows that are meant to compliment a person’s particular eye color.
Now, I’m not the biggest fan of makeup being applied to myself… I’ve only had mine done at MAC about 3 times, and only one of those times were my eyes. So of course I was nervous, being the makeup freak that I am.
The look was very neutral, but simple enough for day… because let’s face it… purple smokey eyes, regardless of how much I swear by them, are not appropriate for most “professional” environments.
I snapped a few pics when I got home. I can’t remember all the product names, so there will be a few missing details…
Face
Mary Kay Mineral Powder Foundation in Ivory 2
Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color… no idea on shade
Mary Kay Mineral Highlighting Power in Pink Porcelain (I think(
Eyes
Mary Kay Eyesicles Eye Color in Vanilla
Mary Kay Mineral Eye Color in… Sweet Plum… and I don’t remember the other 2 shades… it was the green eye set
*I used my own Make Up For Ever mascara when I got home*
Lips
Mary Kay NouriShine Lip Gloss in Cream & Sugar
Mary Kay NouriShine Lip Gloss in Beach Bronze

Ooo, the dreaded full face! Usually I use concealer and some sort of brow product… so excuse the dark eye circles and messy brows!
I have a feeling the Eyesicles is going to start creasing on me… I actually own this product and it always creased as a base or by itself.
I’m liking the lip glosses, they make my lips feel soft. The foundation also gave good coverage, though seems a bit pale… I think this is only because my MAC foundation is now too dark for me since I haven’t gotten any sun in the past few months, so I’m not use to the correct foundation shade being used, oops.
Mary Kay is actually how I got into makeup… I use to only use black eyeliner and mascara until an old friend became a MK consultant. Then I got into eyeshadows and it snowballed from there. I actually have one of the “old school” MK palettes filled with shadows. I stopped using it soon after I got into MAC products. I keep meaning to pull it out and do some looks just for fun one of these days.
So now I gotta figure out what to spend my $25 on… There’s a travel roll up bag that is pretty nifty, but would I ever use it? Same goes for any makeup, as I’m already on MAC overload… I’m going to see if my mom sees anything she likes. It’s hard!
On other news… yesterday I did a blue look, and when I was going to get my camera, clumsy me knocked 3 of my 15-pan palettes off of the counter, and they hit the tile floor. My “highlights” one made it out fine, only some of the pans fell out because the magnets aren’t strong. In my “blue” palette Parrot shattered
I ended up re-pressing it, and it turned out well for being my first time (I never did get a chance to do my pigments, and now I can’t find the empty pans I bought). My “silvers/black” palette got beat all to hell… half of Smoke & Diamonds just disintegrated into dust so I couldn’t scoop any of it back up for re-pressing. Half of Beauty Marked chipped off, so I did a quick “rubbing alcohol and finger” re-press, which I also had to do to Nehru. Not pretty looking at all… I use to hate looking at people’s palette pictures and all the shadows looking like battle ravaged warriors, but now I understand how it happens… gave me a heart attack though, and made a mess on the floor. Now I remember why I put the palettes in the sink!
Long story short, I never got pictures of the blue look, so I’ll have to repeat it. *sigh*
Well, that was my adventure for today… I’ll be searching for what to spend my $25 on!

Time to swatch all of my MAC eye liners that are in pencil form! (Fluidlines to come later)
I don’t have a lot from MAC because Urban Decay has a hold on my eye liner soul with their 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils. But I have picked up some MAC ones here and there. I love MAC’s Pearlglide formula, and the Softsparkles are nice as well.

Today’s swatches are my three MAC Cream Colour Bases: Plumed Violet, Pearl, and Premeditated. Cream Colour Base is often abbreviated CCB.
What are Cream Colour Bases? MAC’s description is:
Versatile and multi-purpose, Cream Colour Base can be applied directly to bare skin, or layered over foundation, moisturizer, or powder. Smooth and easy to apply with a brush, sponge, or fingers-colour effects range from a light veil to highly dramatic, depending on method of application. Cream Colour Base is fragrance-free. (The following shades are not recommended for use in lip area: Black, Dusk and Fawntastic. The following shades are not recommended for use in the eye area: Fabulush, Improper Copper, Premeditated and Virgin Isle.)
MAC Pearl Cream Colour Base
Description: Soft pale gold with icy shimmer (Frost)

MAC Plumed Violet Cream Colour Base
Description: Pro, Discontinued?

MAC Premeditated Cream Colour Base
Description: A deep, bright vivid blue red (Discontinued?)

Swatching procedure: My skin tone is roughly a MAC NW20 (maybe NW15 since any tan is fading). Photos are taken in my bathroom under “Natural Light” bubs which mimic natural daylight.

I did these swatches today because tomorrow I am mailing out Pearl to a new owner. I could never get Pearl to work… it would make my eyelids really greasy and everything would crease… even if I put it over a paint pot. I didn’t have a use for it, so I posted it up for swap. I am getting Cakeshop shadestick in return. I haven’t ever used a shadestick, but figured it could be something neat to try. At the very worse it ends up sitting around like my Pearl CCB has been doing,
I have done a few pretty purple looks with Plumed Violet applied as a base. I have never used Premeditated, only swatched it 2 or 3 times. I have Flammable paint, so I don’t really need a red eye base (yeah yeah, they say not to use it on eyes… I’m a risk taker!). So Premeditated also sits around. Maybe some day I’ll find a use…

This look was for December 4, 2009. I was going out with a few friends, and it was about 20 degrees out, so quite chilly! So I figured this would be the chance to try out Warm Chill. Might as well do Christmas looks when I can, right?
Yesterday I did a look with MAC Henna eyeshadow all over my lid, MAC Bronze eyeshadow in the crease, and MAC Ricepaper Eyeshadow to highlight. I was iffy on it, and so I didn’t take any pictures.

A bright look!
I took inspiration from specktra.net’s “Shop Your Stash Challenge” thread, and used some stuff from my stash that I haven’t used in a long time, or never!
Here’s what I came up with, and I love it! Bright, but not too over the top.
Face
MAC Mineralize loose foundation in Medium
MAC Studio Touch Up Stick Concealer in NW20
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Blonde
Eyes
MAC Painterly paint pot

MAC Nanogold eyeshadow
MAC Ricepaper eyeshadow
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
MAC Brow Finisher in Clear
Make Up For Ever Lash Fibers
Make Up For Ever Smokey Lash MascaraLips
MAC Prized Petal Lipglass
Painterly applied as a base. Cosmic applied all over lid with 239 brush. Lotusland land applied in inner crease with 217 brush. Satellite Dreams applied on outer crease and outer V of lid with 217 brush. Indian Ink used to darken outer crease and V with 217 brush. All the purples were blended, blended, blended! Indian Ink applied as liner along upper lashes with 209 brush. Nanogold applied as a highlight with 272 brush, topped off with Ricepaper using the same brush. Cosmic applied under lower lash line with 219 brush. Zero applied to lower waterline.

Eek, full face shot! Haha… I hate posting them
I forgot how wonderful Cosmic is… applying it is like heaven, it’s so smooth and blendable. This was my first time using Indian Ink, and it can take a bit of work to get it blended in, but I really like it as a matte dark purple for smoking out a look. I’ve heard complaints that it looks black on certain skin tones, so I was please to see it remained purple on me!
Random note… but I’ve been using my MAC Green Gel Cleanser for about a week and a half now! And it seems that my skin is fine with it! Some things cause me to break out, so I was hesitant about switching to this particular cleanser. Yeah yeah, most people hate MAC’s skincare items, but I like my stuff to be from the same people. Call me a dumb snob, or whatever… it’s just my thing. I love how the tiniest dab is enough to wash my whole face, so I foresee the bottle lasting for quite awhile.
