The topic of MAC’s Honey Lust eyeshadow came up last night when I was formspringing my friend… realizing I haven’t used it in literally years (that I can remember), I decided I’d give it a try today. I really loathe that eyeshadow, I really do. It’s just about the only MAC eyeshadow I’ll flat out say I hate. And guess what? Still loathe it. I think I ended up with more fallout all over my face than I did with actual product on my lid… sucks, because it is a pretty color! It’s just a glitterbomb. I suppose I could try applying it wet, but is it worth that amount of effort?!
I paired it with Trax so I could have a look of what seems to be MAC’s two most hated eyeshadows according to people on the forums, heh. Now I do like Trax, so all hope wasn’t lost today!

Hmm, trying to use more pinks lately
One of my more neglected palettes indeed. Today was a fairly calm/simple look…

I rarely line my upper lashes, let alone with Blacktrack, so this was something different. Just felt that it was too plain and needed liner.
Yesterday’s look with Stars N’ Rockets and Carbon wasn’t quite a “day look” by any means for most people… but later on I did darken it up and added more eyeliner to take it to a more “night look.”
I added more Carbon in the crease and outer V. Under the lower lash line I used Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Ransom, and did a thin line along the upper lashes as well.
Here’s the updated look:

Little darker, little more dramatic! Ransom blended in beautifully with Stars N’ Rockets, and sure does have lasting power! I love how those particular Urban Decay liners do not smudge or budge!
I haven’t used my Blackground paint pot too much, so I brought it out today. MAC Stars N’ Rockets eyeshadow over it looks gorgeous! Usually on it’s own or over a neutral paint pot it’s a very pinky-purple color, but over Blackground the blue duochrome really comes out!

Today I was in a rush, and didn’t have time to go through my usual makeup routine of multi eyeshadows, foundation, etc. So here’s my “1 Minute Eyes” look I came up with!
Eyes

Didn’t photograph too well, but it’s a simple and pretty pink-ish look. Just a bit of color to spice up an otherwise boring look! I was thinking how easy it’d be to take something like Contrast, and darken up the outer V, and transform the look, too.
I see this come up time to time on the forums about how a photographer can go about obtaining a MAC Pro Card. Since I have my Pro Card as a photographer, I figure I might as well make up a good post, and maybe google will index it and hopefully my information can help others.
As background, I do mostly freelance photography work. I did work for an automotive lifestyle magazine, that feature cars, events, and models. They also had a troop of models that they used for promotion. Along with the magazine models, I would also do studio shoots with other models.
For the pieces of professional criteria, I submitted:
This is more than has to be sent in, but since I was already paying for postage to Canada, I wanted to include as much to help my case as possible.
If I recall correctly, I received my card 1 day shy of 3 weeks after I sent in my application. When two weeks had passed I did call the helpline and inquired if I had been accepted, and they told me that I had. My card arrived a week later in the mail.
So that is how I received my MAC Pro Card as a photographer. Honestly, I wouldn’t think just any photographer will get approved. Publication, I assume, is definitely a boost to getting accepted. I had my doubts I would get accepted, even with my proof of working with models. I would just suggest that one gathers as much supporting criteria that they have.
Hope that helps someone
This was on my list of ones to try… crazier than what I usually would do, but today is laundry day, and what’s neater than crazy eyes for laundry day, right?!
Eyes
Painterly applied as a base all over lid. Chrome Yellow applied on inner third of lid. One Off applied in middle of lid. Electric Eel applied to outer third and crease. Crystal Avalanche applied in crease, and under inner half of lower lashes. Cranberry used as a liner for upper and lower lashes. Zero applied to lower waterline.

I only have two from this new release: MAC Red Brick and MAC Atlantic Blue. (Had them for several years) Both use to be pro only colors, but now are available to “normal” MAC stores as part of the permanent line! Woohoo!
MAC Red Brick Eyeshadow
Description: Orange Red (Matte)

MAC Atlantic Blue Eyeshadow
Description: Bright violet blue (Matte)

Swatching procedure: My skin tone is roughly a MAC NW20). Photos are taken in under natural daylight from a window. Product is applied over MAC Painterly paint pot.

As much as I use my purple eyeshadows, I have a few that don’t get used as often, so today I brought them out! I also used my liquid foundation today, and wow! I forgot how light it feels, and how great my skin looks with it!

When I went to grab today’s look off of my camera, I discovered some pics of old looks!
So Ima post them up instead of deleting… details on what exactly was used is a bit hazy, please excuse that

Maybe MAC Ricepaper Eyeshadow for a highlight? Not totally sure…

This is my revisit to the combination of MAC Hypnotizing Eyeshadow and MAC Mulch Eyeshadow. Unfortunately, I can’t remember what else I used
I hate when this happens!

That’s my catch up post!!
On another makeup free kick… UGH! I did wear some last week, but didn’t take pictures. I did another variety of my Hypnotizing with Mulch, a bit more smokier. Then just some neutral stuff.
I have no pictures for my look today (it just wasn’t that impressive), but I can give the rundown…

Not the biggest fan of 100 Strokes… always comes out a muddy black color. Definitely one of those things that look a lot better in the pan!
I have my eye on Lucky Green eyeshadow that just got re-released. It was funny… people had theirs for sale for $40, and then MAC went and released the eyeshadow again. Sucks to be them!
Since it’s out permanently now I have time to think about if I want it.
Just got the email today from MAC Pro, there’s some new eyeshadow colors!
Winkle a mid-tone cornflower blue (satin)
Sunny Spot a light acid green yellow (matte)
Lucky Green a frosted mid-tone lime (veluxe pearl)
Vibrant Grape a bright magenta violet (satin)
Free To Be a bright true coral (matte)
Also in the email was the news that pro shades Red Brick, Goldenrod, and Atlantic Blue will be available at regular freestanding MAC stores!
Naturally, seeing as I have a purple fetish, Vibrant Grape is calling to me. Free To Be is also appealing. I think I’ll have to see swatches first, though, before rushing off to order anything. Neat to see some new colors that are not limited edition for once!
Gotta shop that stash and do more stuff with blues!!

Definitely like this look… not too blue! I think I’ll have to try mixing my blues with other shades to find stuff that’s wearable to me. All blue looks just rub me wrong.
On a side note, I’ve been at this blog for over a year now! Yay! And WOW, I’ve come a LONG way in application technique/blending/etc! It’s so nice to be able to look back and see improvement
Which is exactly why I started this blog, because I wanted to document my looks and see improvement, and perhaps help a few others along the way
Look for January 11, 2010… I <3 it.

OK, I couldn’t take not wearing any makeup any longer! I have nothing planned today except for some working out, but I just had to do a look
So here’s something tropical (tropical to me at least)… to remind me that winter won’t last forever
Face
Eyes

I don’t do very many teal/blue looks… I guess because they don’t come off as being very wearable… but I definitely like today’s look! It’s fun and playful and doesn’t scream “crazy old lady blue eyeshadow.” Glad I finally gave it a try, and maybe I can try to work in more colorful looks. Neutrals can get so drab
I haven’t worn makeup since New Year’s… ARGH! Kind of in a rut… so I figured I’d keep things going with a small review

Ohhhh… moisturizers. I never even owned one until last year! Definitely not my thing, but since I live in a really dry climate, it’s been a necessary product. My usual moisturizer is MAC Studio Moisture Fix with SPF, but it began struggling to keep up with dryness this winter. Wanting to stick with MAC, I decided to give Studio Moisture Cream a try.
Initial worries: My skin is weird. It gets pissed off if I use new products on it, usually in the form of breakouts. And who wants that?! But my cheeks and area between my eyebrows are so dry this time of year, I had to make a switch…
So how has my skin been doing? Well, I have gotten some breakouts. Therefore, I’ve been trying to use this product only on the dry areas, and leaving it off of the areas where I get breakouts (forehead, chin mostly). This seemed to help a lot. But then I started tanning again (sorry, can’t do the pale thing…) and I slathered this product all over my face, and I got about 5 breakouts… forehead and upper lip. Yuck! However, I am not sure if it’s due to Studio Moisture Cream, or because I used my Studio Moisture Fix before tanning because it has sunscreen in it… maybe my skin just doesn’t like two different products being used?
On the dry areas it does wonders! No more peeling showing up in a few hours after use! So Studio Moisture Cream does what it’s suppose to on dry areas!

The product itself is pretty dreamy. Doesn’t take much to get the job done! I purchased it in mid-December, and I’m still just using what was stuck to the inner lid. It doesn’t apply heavy, but I “feel” it on my face more than the Studio Moisture Fix. Biggest downside is the lack of sun protection in it. Even though my foundation has SPF, I don’t always use foundation.
So overall… definitely this will be my winter moisturizer. I will be switching back to Studio Moisture Fix once winter is over. The product does what I ask it to, and I can’t really fault it for causing some breakouts because I knew going in that my skin responds funky to new products.
Whew, what a long name for an eyeshadow!
I have this up for swap on MUA and someone requested photos so I decided it was a good time to grab a swatch of it as well, and just post it all up on here.
I don’t think this eyeshadow is still sold, I bought it quite awhile ago and hardly ever used it.
Sephora Colorful Mono Chrome N°04 Eyeshadow
Description: I would describe it as a teal that reflects some green and gold. Unfortunately I cannot find the official color description
Sephora’s description of Colorful Mono eyeshadows: “Sephora Mono Eyeshadow has the perfect, high-payoff combination of brilliant color, an easy-blending formula, and endless versatility that will revolutionize your eye-makeup outlook and deliver show-stopping effects. This expert formula comes in three fabulous finishes: matte, glittering, and metallic shimmer. Apply your color dry for a natural vibe or dampen your brush and apply wet for an all-out sophisticated stare. Let inspiration be your guide and watch your makeup go from everyday to extraordinary.”

Swatching Procedure: Product and swatch pictures taken under “natural light bulbs” which mimic natural dayling. Skin tone is roughly a MAC NW20, and product was applied over MAC Painterly paint pot.

So I’ve been a bit behind on updating!! I have two looks to post… unfortunately I didn’t get pictures of my New Year’s Eve look… but it was just my typical smokey purple eye look, just a bit heavier than usual. Also did a few neutral looks without pictures…

Whew, all caught up with stuff I had on my camera!
I have yet to buy anything from MAC’s Warm & Cozy collection (my initial excitement over the products wore off as I started to see swatches), but I did already have Embark eyeshadow, which is a permanent product but part of the collection. So I figured I might as well go ahead and swatch it since it’s in a current collection
MAC Embark Eyeshadow
Description: Intense reddish brown (Matte, Permanent)

Swatching procedure: My skin tone is roughly a MAC NW20 (maybe NW15 since any tan is fading). Photos are taken in under natural daylight from a window. Product is applied over MAC Painterly paint pot.

It applied a bit “chunky” to my skin, I don’t know why. Felt like I really had to dig the brush in to get any on the brush. Kind of chalky… I don’t think I’ve used this eyeshadow too much, maybe once or twice to darken up a look.
I’m torn on whether I should get Modelette eyeshadow from Warm & Cozy… I already have so many browns and neutrals that I am not sure I really need another. So I think I’m saving my money for something else…
Wow, I feel like I’ve owned Pure Ore for ages! It’s been over 2 years since it was released, and I’ve used it maybe 5 times tops, usually as a liner
I was browsing specktra.net’s “Shop Your Stash” thread for ideas, and came across a look using it so I had to give it a try!

I’m loving it!! It’s not too harsh of a look in real life (so my mom says, she often says my makeup is too dark
). Nice and sparkly and shiny. I’ve never used Pure Ore like this, so I’m glad I tried something new! Makes me wish I had the silver product from Metal-X, or hell, all of the colors!
Took me a few days to get around to pulling these pictures off of the camera… I’m on a makeup vacation since I’ve just been bumming around the past few days enjoying the snowy weather!

Painterly applied as a base. Hypnotizing applied over whole lid, and inner half of lower lahses. Mulch applied in crease and outer V, and outer half of lower lashes. Naked Lunch applied above crease, and Retrospeck applied as a highlight. Grey Utility applied along upper lashes, and Zero applied on lower waterline.

Gotta swatch my only purchase from the Love Lace collection!
MAC Hypnotizing Eyeshadow
Description:Frosted greyed mauve (Frost, LE: Love Lace)

Swatching procedure: My skin tone is roughly a MAC NW20 (maybe NW15 since any tan is fading). Photos are taken in under natural daylight from a window. Product applied over MAC Painterly paint pot.
